Latest CanOils Third Quarter Data Reveals The Challenges For Canadian Oil And Gas Juniors

Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours. I wrote this article myself, and it expresses my own opinions. I am not receiving compensation for it. I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article. (More...)

Third quarter data now available tells an interesting story about the challenges and responses of Canada's Junior exploration and production companies this year. We've aggregated the data for all companies in a group (see below) of 49 Junior exploration and production companies to give an overview of performance in the third quarter and compared some key metrics with previous quarters to reveal some of the key trends.

Long- and short-term debt for the Canadian Juniors has doubled since early 2011 and edged up a little more in the third quarter.

Total amount of money available under credit facilities to the group of Canadian Juniors fell slightly in the third quarter and, with drawdowns increasing modestly, the total amount undrawn was squeezed compared with the third quarter.

With share prices for many of the Juniors hitting new lows, one of the traditional key source of new finance -- issuance of shares -- has dried up. The graph below shows the precipitous drop in share issues in recent quarters.

But the Juniors have done well to sustain operating cash flow in the third quarter.

And that has largely been due to the companies sustaining production volumes as well as shifting to more liquids in the mix. See last week's article on this subject.

Capital spending on exploration and evaluation has been cut back compared with earlier quarters though, leading to speculation as to whether leaner drilling programs will undermine reserve additions by end year. Those reserve reports are critical because lending programs -- and the ability of companies to grow -- will depend on them.

Forecast Vs. Reality

The Canadian Juniors weren't supposed to have it this bad. At the beginning of this year, financial analysts (and most of the industry, too) weren't expecting gas prices to be as low as they turned out. The table below, taken from Canoils' Forecast data from FactSet, shows the differences between consensus forecasts at the beginning of 2012 and now.

Difference In Consensus Price Forecasts For 2012 - Early Vs. Late 2012

Consensus Forecast Jan 2012Consensus Forecast Nov 2012Difference
WTI $/bbl$92.50$95.00+$2.50
Brent $/bbl$102.00$111.03+$9.03
Henry Hub $/mmbtu$4.35$2.74-$1.61
AECO Cdn $/mmbtu$3.84$2.29-$1.55

Canoils estimates that lower-than-expected gas prices wiped an estimated $250 million off Juniors' cash flow compared with what financial markets were expecting early in the year. This was partially offset by around $100 million of uplift from higher-than-expected liquids prices (also helped by the Juniors' move to increase their liquids weighting), but this still left a $150 million hole in expected cash flow. This was primarily filled by a cuts in capital spending compared with the levels originally budgeted for in early 2012. This solved some of the immediate cash flow worries, but could threaten reserves growth upon which the future health of this sector depends.

All data in this story is taken from the Canoils database and is available to Canoils clients.

Companies in the Canadian Juniors group produce between 1,000 and 10,000 b/d oil equivalent and include Anderson Energy Ltd., Arcan Resources Ltd, Arsenal Energy Inc., Artek Exploration Ltd., BlackPearl Resources Inc., Bonterra Energy Corp., Cequence Energy Ltd., Charger Energy Corp., Chinook Energy Inc., Corridor Resources Inc., Crocotta Energy Inc., DeeThree Exploration Ltd., Delphi Energy Corp., Equal Energy Ltd., Exall Energy Corporation, Freehold Royalties Ltd., Hyperion Exploration Corp., Insignia Energy Ltd., Longview Oil Corp., Marquee Energy Ltd., Novus Energy Inc., Painted Pony Petroleum Ltd., Palliser Oil & Gas Corporation, Pinecrest Energy Inc., Renegade Petroleum Ltd., RMP Energy Inc., Rock Energy Inc., Second Wave Petroleum Inc., Sonde Resources Corp., Southern Pacific Resource Corp., Spartan Oil Corp., Storm Resources Ltd., Strategic Oil & Gas Ltd. ,Sure Energy Inc, Surge Energy Inc., Tamarack Valley Energy Ltd. ,Terra Energy Corp., TriOil Resources Ltd., Vero Energy Inc., Waldron Energy Corporation, Yangarra Resources Ltd., Yoho Resources Inc. Health, Fitness and Excerise for Life ? Blog Archive ? UrHomePT ...

(PRWEB) December 06, 2012

Theres a reason movie stars and financial moguls use private personal trainers: The benefits of working with an in home personal trainer is one of the fastest, easiest, most successful ways to improve your health and fitness. In fact, the benefits of an in home personal trainer has proved so effective that it has spread well beyond the realm of the rich and famous. Today, in home personal trainers are used by people of all fitness, age and economic levels?and from all over the world?to help make those lifestyle changes and new year?s resolutions more achievable.

Local Northern Virginia In Home Personal Trainer, Rob Jenkins, share his thoughts on New Year?s resolutions and his experience with his clientele during the rise in demand for in-home personal training from December-March.

Rob states that with January right around the corner, the typical holiday schedule consists of family outings, Christmas parties, gift exchanges and work related holiday events and ?The post-Christmas/New Years season ends with a morning after look in the mirror and one feeling both partial regret and hope they?ll change with the new year? says in-home personal trainer, Rob Jenkins.

Partial regret of over indulgence and the love handles of excessive caloric consumption and hope for change that this year one will actually stay true to their ?New Years Resolution? they?ve made the past three years. Rob hears it all the time from clients, ?I want to lose weight,? ?I need to get rid of my tummy,? ?I want bigger muscles,?I need to get healthy,? etc. and are simply said yet rarely followed through with and want help but don?t know how or where to start.

Reasons why? Here?s why, life hits, work demands grow and schedules get tighter and tighter, leaving one to think they have no time for training and their health. Reality we all have the same time in the day and we do have time, but no one to stay accountable to, know what to do or want to do it. That?s were UrHomePT.com has helped their clients.

The desire to hire a personal trainer has taken a huge spike in recent years. Despite the economy, individuals choose to invest in their health. The R.O.I is predictable and the return represents the amount and consistency of investment.

Top 5 Reasons To Hire An In Home Personal Trainer

1. Save time. When you hire an in-home personal trainer, you make the most of your time. There?s no packing a bag of clothing and gear, no traveling to the gym, no searching for a parking spot. Your trainer arrives at the scheduled time, and you spend your alloted time working out. When time is tight, in-home personal training lets you spend more time getting fit and less time in transit.

2. Privacy and comfort. Admit it. If your body is less than perfect, it can be intimidating to work out in a public gym. It can feel like all eyes are on you?especially the parts that jiggle when you move. An in-home personal training program lets you work out in the privacy and comfort of your own home. You control the temperature, the music, the cleanliness, and you get to exercise without an audience.

3. No equipment needed. In-home personal training typically focuses on exercise techniques that require little or no gear. If you already own fitness equipment, your trainer can include it in your workouts. And if you don?t have any gear, don?t worry; your trainer will bring everything you need for a great workout. You?ll learn to be fit anywhere: at home, at your in-laws? house, in a hotel room, in your office.

4. Personal attention. In-home personal training gives you one-one-one attention from a trainer with no distractions. The personal training you get at a gym or rec center is often standardized and not exactly personal. When you hire an in-home personal trainer, you?ll get a fitness program that is tailored just for you. It will work around your limitations and help you reach your fitness goals quickly and efficiently.

5. Accountability. It?s pretty easy to talk yourself out of a trip to the gym. But when the trainer shows up at your door, all your excuses are out the window. Your scheduled appointments will keep you on track toward your fitness goal, and your trainer will help keep you motivated to exercise.

Stocks gain on "cliff" hope, led by banks

(AP Photo/Seth Wenig, File)

(AP) ? Stocks closed higher Wednesday, their first gain of the week, as bank shares rose and comments by President Barack Obama made investors optimistic that a quick deal could be made to avoid the "fiscal cliff."

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 82.71 points to end at 13,034.49. It had been up as much as 137. The Standard and Poor's 500 closed up 2.23 points to 1,409.28. The Nasdaq composite was down 22.99 points to 2,973.70, held back by a slump in Apple.

Citigroup jumped $2.17, or 6.3 percent, to $36.46 after the bank said it plans to eliminate more than 11,000 jobs, or about 4 percent of its workforce, to cut expenses and improve efficiency. Travelers surged $3.47, or 4.9 percent, to $74 after it announced plans to resume stock buybacks. Travelers temporarily suspended repurchases following Superstorm Sandy while it assessed its exposure to damage claims.

"We can probably solve this in about a week, it's not that tough," Obama said in lunchtime remarks to the Business Roundtable in Washington. The comments, made just before noon, helped push the market higher, said Quincy Crosby, a market strategist at Prudential Financial.

Stocks have largely traded sideways for two weeks as investors wait for developments from Washington on crucial budget talks to avoid the "fiscal cliff," a series of sharp government spending cuts and tax increases scheduled to start Jan. 1 unless an agreement is reached to cut the budget deficit. Economists say that the measures, if implemented, could push the U.S. back into recession.

Apple was among the decliners, falling $37.05, or 6.4 percent, to $538.79. Stifel Financial analyst Aaron Rakers said the drop was in part due to comments from AT&T Mobility chief executive officer Ralph de La Vega, which suggested that smartphone activations this quarter were lagging the same period a year ago. The stock has now dropped 23 percent since closing at a record $702.10 in September.

Stocks are still up on the year, after the Federal Reserve extended its bond-buying program in September, offsetting concern that the European debt crisis was set to spread. The Dow has gained 7 percent and S&P 500 has advanced 12 percent.

"The market will hold on to its gains for the year. Given the uncertainty I don't see any compelling reasons for an increase," said Brian Gendreau, a market strategist with Cetera Financial Group, a Los Angeles-based broker. "But that could change in a blink. If there's better-than-expected news from these negotiations, the market could pop."

A Chinese government pledge to maintain policies intended to strengthen the world's second-largest economy helped raise optimism about global growth. China's Shanghai Composite Index jumped 2.9 percent to 2,031.91. Hong Kong's Hang Seng ended 2.2 percent higher at 22,270.91.

A private survey showed Wednesday that U.S. businesses added fewer workers in November, in part because Superstorm Sandy shut down factories, retail stores, and other companies. Payroll processor ADP said employers added 118,000 jobs last month. That's below October's total of 157,000, which was revised lower. Investors will also look to the monthly jobs report from the Labor Department Friday for more information about how the economy is doing.

Orders to U.S. factories rose modestly in October, helped by a big gain in demand for equipment that reflects business investment plans. Factory orders edged up 0.8 percent in October, the Commerce Department said Wednesday. That followed a 4.5 percent jump in September.

The yield on the 10-year Treasury note fell 1 basis points to 1.59 percent.

Among other stocks making big moves:

?Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold plunged $6.12, or 16 percent, to $32.16 after the mining company said it is buying oil companies Plains Exploration & Production and McMoRan Exploration for about $9 billion.

?Mattress Firm Holding Corp. fell $6.65, or 22 percent, to $23.67 after the mattress retailer said late Tuesday that sales trends were softening.

?Pandora Media, an internet radio company, fell $1.65, or 17.5 percent, to $7.80 after saying it would make a much larger loss in the fourth quarter than analysts had been forecasting.

At last: T-Mobile getting 'Apple products' in 2013

1 hr.

T-Mobile parent?Deutsche Telekom?has announced that the U.S. carrier would have "additions to its rate plan and product portfolio, including Apple products" in 2013.

This most likely?means that finally, more than five years after it was released, the iPhone will hit T-Mobile, the last major carrier in the U.S. to get Apple's popular phone.

An agreement between the two companies calls for the iPhone to start being offered in 2013. Apple's iPad will also be sold by T-Mobile.

A T-Mobile spokesperson confirmed the statement with NBC News, but would not elaborate on what specific products were coming:

T-Mobile has entered into an agreement with Apple to bring products to market together next year. Additional details will be made available at a later date.

It is not known whether an iPad will also?be among the products coming to T-Mobile. Launching both the iPhone and iPad may be contingent on the roll-out of T-Mobile's 4G LTE network ? a high-speed technology used by Apple products on competing U.S. carriers. Deutsche Telekom?said that, for 2013, "The focus in the U.S. is on building out the LTE network."

The addition of the iPhone could help T-Mobile, which has been battered by a failed merger attempt with AT&T and sagging subscriber numbers. Verizon Wireless, AT&T and Sprint?all offer the iPhone.

Using an unlocked?iPhone on T-Mobile's network has been possible for years, though not always with the speeds guaranteed by other carriers.?In fact, the company has said it has?more than a million iPhones on its network. T-Mobile has advertised to AT&T iPhone owners who are off their contracts that they can switch to T-Mobile, which uses?much of the same network protocols?as AT&T.
